Closing Song

Each life that touches ours for good
Reflects thine own great mercy, Lord;
Thou sendest blessings from above
Thru words and deeds of those who love.

What greater gift dost thou bestow,
What greater goodness can we know
Than Christlike friends, whose gentle ways
Strengthen our faith, enrich our days.

When such a friend from us departs,
We hold forever in our hearts
A sweet and hallowed memory,
Bringing us nearer, Lord, to thee.

For worthy friends whose lives proclaim
Devotion to the Savior’s name,
Who bless our days with peace and love,
We praise thy goodness, Lord, above.

Ever since her funeral, this song always opens the wound all over again.
I knew it was coming. My heart leapt when I saw the closing song.
I thought I could compose myself and not cry.
40 minutes into sacrament meeting, I went to the bathroom, talked to a friend in there and lingered in the hall on the way back, hoping I wouldn't have to go in. But I knew I had to go back.
And I sobbed.

It doesn't help that her birthday was Thursday, or that Memorial Day is next week. It definitely didn't help later that day when my sister developed an old old roll of film and she was in it.

I still miss her.

I was kind of wondering what you were doing out in the hall, but I just figured you were looking for someone. I didn't know you were avoiding the closing song. :( I'm sorry for what you're going through. You're in my prayers!
